The challenge

Demand charges, peak tariffs, unplanned outages and connection limits put direct pressure on the profitability of commercial and industrial operations.

The SANA Energy solution

With commercial-scale rooftop solar and battery energy storage, SANA Energy shifts peak consumption, reduces demand charges and keeps critical lines running through outages.

Why this solution

Maximum self-consumption

Surplus daytime solar is stored and used at night or on low-sun hours, cutting reliance on grid purchases.

Lower demand & peak charges

During peak-tariff hours, load is served from the battery, lowering registered demand and the electricity bill.

Uptime through outages

Critical production lines and sensitive equipment keep running from the battery through grid outages.

Less diesel dependence

The diesel generator only runs when truly needed, cutting fuel use, noise and maintenance cost.

Microgrid & islanding-ready

Where needed, the system can run islanded, fully independent from the national grid.

Remote monitoring & control

The energy management system (EMS) shows real-time performance and enables remote control.

System architectures

PCS module — grid-charged

A PCS module sits between the grid and the battery, with no solar array involved: the battery charges from the grid during cheap, off-peak hours and carries the site's loads without interruption when the grid drops. The lower-cost, faster option for sites with no roof or yard for panels, whose aim is uptime and shifting consumption away from peak hours.

Hybrid inverter — grid and solar

A hybrid inverter charges the battery from both the grid and a solar array. It gives the same uptime and peak-shaving, but part of the energy comes from the sun, so the electricity bill falls further — the right choice wherever there is roof or ground available for panels.

Hybrid with diesel backup

Solar, battery and diesel are managed together so clean energy is prioritised and diesel runs only when necessary.

Storage equipment formats

Cabinet ESS

Suited to mid-range capacities, a smaller footprint (indoor or building-adjacent) and lower upfront cost.

Containerised ESS

Built for large-scale capacity — factory pre-assembled, with integrated insulation and cooling, for fast outdoor deployment.

Suggested configuration

  1. 1Rooftop or ground-mount solar plant
  2. 2Cabinet or containerised battery ESS
  3. 3Three-phase industrial inverters
  4. 4Energy management system (EMS) with remote monitoring
